Happy
New Year!
At the beginning of each New Year, many people
look to set new goals or resolutions to improve
their lives. I want to take a moment to introduce
you to a great opportunity to improve the quality of
your life with a program initiated by the City of
Mesa and several community partners, Mesa Fit City
Challenge.
Mesa Fit City Challenge is a citywide initiative to improve
the health and fitness of our community. The goal of
Fit City Challenge is to educate, motivate and support
individuals to make lifestyle changes in their
dietary and exercise habits in order to improve
overall health and aid in the prevention of heart
disease, stroke, diabetes and other chronic
conditions.
Through the coordination of the Mesa Parks,
Recreation and Commercial Facilities Department and
their sponsors, the Fit City Challenge encourages
Mesa residents to be active and involved while
spending time with family and friends in a variety
of community-based activities. Success will be
measured one step at a time as individuals make the
commitment to live healthier lifestyles by simply
doing more than they did the day before.
To encourage all ages to challenge themselves to
make a healthier change in their lifestyle, the
Parks, Recreation and Commercial Facilities
Department will extend a monthly challenge activity
to the community. Look for each month to differ in
its activity and focus.
I invite you, and all your family members, to
join me and my family in making a New Year’s
Resolution, to become more physically active and
healthier during the next 12 months by becoming a
member of the Mesa Fit City Challenge!
Let’s all "move" towards a healthier, more active
lifestyle this year, and for many years to come.
Register yourself, your family and your friends for
the Fit City Challenge.
Thank you,
Christopher J. Brady
